The Community Trust of Mid & South Canterbury

Community Trust of Mid and South Canterbury provides grants to community organisations that operate within the local authority districts of Ashburton, Mackenzie, Timaru and Waimate.

Can I get funding?

Are you a group in our region that is:

  • An incorporated society
  • A registered charitable trust
  • Not-for-profit community-based youth group or parent-led playgroup
  • Looking for supplementary funding, rather than a main funding source

We have invitation only funding rounds for...

  • Foodbanks
  • Schools
  • Kindergartens, playcentres and not-for-profit early learning centres

We do not fund...

  • Retrospectively
  • Central or Local government
  • Commercial ventures
  • Endowments, Capital Funds, and other Trust Funds
  • Individuals, including scholarships and organisations that provide individual scholarships
  • Costs to attend out-of-region conferences, education, tournaments, competitions, tours
  • Centennial or jubilee events – unless they are region wide
  • Defibrillators and/or lockboxes

Applicants can apply once per annum, choosing the appropriate round to enter.

Applications which do not meet the criteria for the relevant round will not be considered in that round. Applications cannot be transferred from one round to the next.

  • Applications are completed on-line using our SmartyGrants portal
  • Applications are considered within an approximate two-month window following submission
  • Applications will only be considered out of round where Trustees, , accept that exceptional circumstances outside of the applicant’s control require an urgent response.  
  • Applications which do not meet the criteria for the relevant round will not be considered in that round. Applications cannot be transferred from one round to the next.
  • Applicants will be notified of the result within a week of a decision being made.

Accountability

  • An Accountability report will be attached to your successful application. It is due within 12 months of the grant approval.
  • You will receive an email reminder from SmartyGrants a month before this is due. However you can complete your accountability report at any time by logging in to your original application https://comtrust.smartygrants.com.au/applicant
